Beyonce is set to pair up with director Clint Eastwood for a remake of A Star is Born.
According to Heraldsun, Beyonce is in talks to play Esther Blodgett, who arrives in Hollywood with ambitions of stardom. She falls in love with Norman Maine, an alcoholic fallen star who guides her burgeoning career as his own declines rapidly.
Eastwood’s film will be the fourth version of the story – the first was made in 1937 and the most recent in 1976 starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Streisand won an Oscar for the theme tune, Evergreen, but the film was not a critical or popular success.
The role of Maine is yet to be cast but Robert Downey Jr and Russell Crowe are rumoured to be in the running.
Knowles is best known as a singer but was acclaimed for her role in Dreamgirls, the 2006 film based on the real-life story of The Supremes.
Warner Bros confirmed that Eastwood, 80, is in negotiations to take on the project.
