SRC recording artist Shontelle has earned praise for the debut single "T-Shirt" from male and female fans alike, she has also earned a few comparisons to fellow Barbadian beauty Rihanna.
"Ri and I are supportive of each other [and] huge fans of each others music" says Shontelle who is slated to release her debut album "Shontelligence" next month.
"We really get along but we are such different artists. Her style and vocal styling [is] so different and our music is very different..we know that as soon as people hear our music ya'll kind of see the difference immediately" Shontelle says responding to comparisons drawn from the fact that she and Rihanna went to school together back in the day.
Gearing up for the release of "Shontelligence," due Nov. 18, Shontelle sat down with Singersroom recently to discuss the project and her rise in the entertainment industry.
"While in school, I was gonna try to write songs and sing but I decided to study abroad because at least that way I could do entertainment law. That means I would still be able to be in the industry one way or the other" the "T-Shirt" singer says of her stint in law school that ended up being an asset once it came time to sign contracts and put out music.
"It really helped. I'm so aware of these things, so it definitely helps."
"Shontelligence" hits stores and online retailers November 18.
