Jay Z will be going through with his collection launch collaboration with Barneys.

Yesterday, we posted about the petition calling for Jay Z to drop his partnership with Barneys.

With the recent controversy involving Barneys, Jay Z was under pressure to cancel his upcoming watch launch at Barneys New York after two black consumers accused the high end retailer of racial profiling. It doesn’t look like Jay Z will be cancelling his upcoming launch or partnership with the retailer.

Check out Jay Z’s reason for continuing his collaboration with Barneys below…

This collaboration lives in a place of giving and is about the Foundation. I am not making a dime from this collection; I do not stand to make millions, as falsely reported. I need to make that fact crystal clear. The Shawn Carter Foundation is the beneficiary and the foundation is receiving 25% of all sales from the collaboration, 10% of all sales generated in the store on November 20th and an additional donation from Barneys. This money is going to help individuals facing socio-economic hardships to help further their education at institutions of higher learning. My idea was born out of creativity and charity… not profit.

Read the petition below:

Right as Jay Z prepares to roll out a new partnership with Barneys New York for the holiday shopping season, I’ve been disappointed to hear new allegations about how the retailer treats young black consumers.

Recently, we have learned the shocking news that a young college student Trayon Christian (a black male) was arrested in NYC after making a $350 purchase at Barneys New York. According to The Post, following his purchase, he was stopped by police officers, allegedly called by a Barneys sales clerk, who believed the transaction was fraudulent. After hours being held in a precinct cell, Trayon was released with no charges.

Jay Z Talks Collaboration w/ Barneys, Watch Designs & Music Blue Ivy Prefers

Jay Z for Vanity Fair Jay Z Talks Collaboration w/ Barneys, Watch Designs & Music Blue Ivy Prefers

If you think Jayz can not top his laundry list of accomplishments, he never fails to give you more. In the very candid interview with Vanity Fair in his private suite, he’s different from the cool, guarded, and aloof guy we usually see. He’s the JayZ that only his friends and family get to see: extroverted, curious, gregarious, hilarious, and downright chatty. He laughs a lot—his trademark short, staccato laugh.

With unprecedented access, the drug dealer turned rapper turned mogul and family man opens up and shows his fans yet another side of himself. He said he never went swimming as a kid, but now he’s learned how to swim so he can teach his daughter—18-month-old Blue Ivy. He said he’s been learning to play tennis with a trainer. Jay tells Vanity Fair: “of course” he pursued Beyoncé, “Well, you know, you’ve got to try first. You got to dazzle…wine and dine.” Beyoncé, who is said in person not to look a day over 20 without makeup, was present during the interview and shares that her daughter Blue prefers Jay’s music to hers. She plays a song and she goes, ‘More, Daddy, more.. Daddy song.’ She’s my biggest fan. If no one bought the Magna Carta the fact that she loves it so much, it gives me the greatest joy.
