Would you like to become a dope rhyme rapper?

Thousands of people around the globe share the same inspiration. However, some of them are not familiar with the rhyming fundamentals that can take them to the top. This is one of the main reasons why they become frustrated and leave the Hip Hop scene disappointed.

In this article, we will take a close look at some important things to rap about. Check this our if you want to know how to rap.

If you take advantage of the pointers listed below, there’s no reason why you will not become one of the most respected rappers in the game.

What should you rap about? There are tons of things you can cover with your rhymes. However, this does not mean that your audience will be interested in hearing you rap about them.

Here are some things you should keep in mind when you grab your pen:

First Person Focuses on One Perspective

I don’t like to brag, but I must admit that I am one of the best emcees around today. Fortunately for me, I’ve learned from the mistakes that I made in the past.

When I started out, I was under the impression that everyone would be interested in hearing me rap about my life story. Man, was I wrong!

There’s an old saying in life, “Honesty is the best policy.” This also applies to rapping. Emcees must be honest with themselves at all time.

How exciting is your life? You go to class, hang out with your boys, and play the latest video games. Do you really think people want to hear you rap about these things? If you do, you are sadly mistaken.

When you sit down to pen your next masterpiece, you don’t have to write about your everyday life. You can write about things that happened in the past. For example, you can write about overcoming adversity during your teens. You can also write about an embarrassing moment.

When you use your imagination, you will be able to come up with tons of wonderful ideas that will appeal to your audience.

First Person Narrative

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to write rhymes about yourself. Writing about yourself is called ‘First Person’. This forces you to use the following narratives: I, we, us, ours, and mine.

First person narrative writing is like taking a selfie photo. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you have so many other options on the table. If you are not living the high life, maybe you should write about some interesting things taking place in the world.

You can get caught up on current events by watching the evening news, reading popular newspapers, and listening to podcasts. This may seem frustrating, but you must make sacrifices to get ahead in this game.

Second Person Narrative

Second person narrative focuses on people around you. In this instance, you will use words such as you and yours. You can use second person narrative when you want to talk about someone else.

Here are three solid second person narrative examples:

  • You can apologize to your parents for the dumb things you did in the past
  • You can express your opinion about a controversial Hip Hop concert
  • You can tell your girl how you really feel about her

Second person narrative takes the spotlight off of you and directs it on someone else. Please keep in mind that you can switch back to the first person narrative anytime.

Third Person Narrative

Third person narrative is when you talk about a person with someone else. You are not talking directly to that person, you are talking about them.

With third-person narrative, you will use the following terms: Them, him, hers, it, she, he, their, theirs, and they.

You can bounce between first narrative, second narrative, and third narrative at this point.
